My name is Ashpanez Kamau Njenga, a student at the Eastlands College of Technology pursuing Automotive Engineering and a proud beneficiary of the MOMENTUM Scholarship Fund.
I was born of humble beginnings, a single parent – Mombasa based family of three. Early in life, this spoke and prepared me for a lot of challenges. Despite all this, I had a dream of pursuing Automotive Engineering and MOMENTUM offered me the opportunity to make this dream a reality.
MOMENTUM understood our needs from the very start. Psychologically, I was at crossroads, confused about finances and the fate of my future. Seeing my mother struggle to make both ends meet took a toll on me. Keeping this in mind, MOMENTUM introduced us to mentors who guided us not only on matters regarding our careers and education, but also general life advise on a personalized level. I would to thank my mentor, Ms Jane Wanja, for being a supporter in what I do and instilling knowledge and advice to build my character.
I would like to sincerely thank the MOMENTUM Team for coming up with this initiative to support needy students fulfill their educational goals and allow them to create a platform to further their passions and skillsets. I was able to put more emphasis on my education and be less worried of where I would acquire the finances to cater for my fees. MOMENTUM went THE extra mile to provide us with finances for upkeep at school and this has greatly impacted us.
Thank you for ensuring we got market placement after course work completion in school. I got to have a practical know how on how things are operationalized, practically. I managed to acquire skills and knowledge during my market placement that has really helped understand all the concepts taught in school.
My intention is to further my studies and join the competitive automotive field, work for an established entity and finally open my own modern garage someday.
I would like to sincerely thank MOMENTUM for taking their chances with me. I promise to not let you down.
