Momentum’s Contribution To Africa’s Jewel: The Maasai Mara

The seasonal nature of tourism in Kenya has a negative trickle-down effect on the greater Maasai Mara, as it poses challenges to the stewards and the families, who rely primarily on tourism activities, to manage and protect the ecosystem.

Taking this into account, Momentum Credit sponsored the 3rd edition of the Maasai Mara UltraMarathon, which transverses the Enonkishu, Lemek, Olchoro, and Mara North conservancies.

Through this edition’s sponsorship, Momentum Credit played a part in protecting elephants and their habitats across the Mara ecosystem, hosting the conservancies’ rangers for administrative support, funding the expansion of a women’s health centre in the Northern Mara, and promoting both local and international tourism.

The business, through the Platcorp Foundation, continues to actively participate in projects that support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in this case, No Poverty, Good Health & Well-Being, Decent Work & Economic Growth and Life on Land.

Momentum Ladies receive awards after race win

With close to 60% of Momentum Credit talents of the female gender, the business scaled up by sending a delegation of two teams of four runners each: a ladies’ and gents’ team, each covering a 12.5km distance in the 50 km race.

The ladies’ team was head and shoulders above, clinching gold in the Women’s category!
